Champion. Bo ran the 65 kg bracket 5-0 in Bratislava, four wins by pin or tech, then handled Japan’s Takuto Osedo 8-2 in the final to turn his 2024 World bronze into gold.

The Story

A high school careerthat broke therecord book.

Out of Windber, Pennsylvania, Bo Bassett turned the Bishop McCort singlet into a legend. He left high school undefeated in folkstyle, not close matches and lucky escapes, but a relentless campaign of bonus points and broken wills. 97% of his wins came by bonus.

He’s a Cadet World Champion and a U20 World bronze medalist, a three-time Pan Am champ who’s been beating grown men since he was a kid. In April 2026 he stormed both the U20 and the Senior brackets at the U.S. Open in Las Vegas, going a combined 12-0 and walking out a Senior national champion.

Now he carries the Machine Gun Mindset to Blacksburg as an incoming Virginia Tech Hokie, and to the Senior World stage.

It took a couple of years, but Bo found the way he wanted to lead, with his faith at the center. “With God at the center, you just have that joy,” he says. “Even in those big pressure moments, when most people are feeling it, I’m just overcome with that joy, knowing that God’s got it all planned out.”
